Presented by VIVO Media Arts Centre in partnership with Vancouver New Music
The Reorganized Organ youth mentorship project
Call for participation | Ages 18-24 | Deadline: July 20, 2017
Are you an artist, musician, hacker, tinkerer, or generally a curious person, between 18 and 24 years? Want to get involved with Vancouver’s media art community to collaborate with other creative people? Interested in experimental music or interactive sculpture? Intrigued by the idea of repurposing trashed electronics to make an artwork?
The Reorganized Organ is a collaborative musical instrument-building project, taking place over twelve sessions in the Fall 2017. With the help of mentor-artists George Rahi and Marc St. Pierre, you’ll collaborate with other participants to take apart and repurpose a discarded electronic organ, and other wasted electronics, to invent and create an orchestra of experimental musical instrumentsand other sound-making devices. The project culminates in a performance at VIVO Media Arts Centre presented with the help of Vancouver New Music. This project is funded by the BC Arts Council, and also partners with Free Geek Vancouver and MakerMobile.
Participants receive an honorarium per session, and artist fee for final performance.
