Fall Soundwalks – Sept. 20 + 27, 2015

Fall Soundwalks

September 20, 2015 ; 2PM
Led by Jorma Kujala
Meeting location: the corner of Comox and Denman Streets, beside Central Bistro (1072 Denman Street)

Vancouver’s West End has changed immensely since it was transformed in the late 1800’s from a forested serenity into an exclusive middle and upper class neighbourhood on the outskirts of our growing urban centre. This area of Vancouver has continued to change and develop, though its roots as a wooded peninsula cannot be forgotten. This soundwalk seeks to listen for the distinct murmur of nature and the area’s history, inseparably woven into this vibrant, diverse, walkable, and densely populated community

Silence for the Sake of Sound
September 27, 2015 ; 2PM
Led by Matt O’Donnell & Igor Santizo
Meeting location: Science World in front of the Rube Goldberg Machine (sound sculpture at entrance)

Listen to the city’s underlying sounds and rhythms on a soundwalk. Members of the Vancouver Soundwalk Collective lead free, guided walks through the urban environment.
