To me, this image evokes a heat map or bathymetric map, so rather than reading it in one direction across the page I chose to visualize it as a 3D image or model, and read it from the bottom to top layer, roughly combined with moving from top to bottom.

The overall tone of the sound piece was influenced one of the artist’s comments when sharing the piece. They said they saw in it “fluid lineage, moody but [it] also [has] some focal points and some contrast…calming but familiar and not sad, even with all the blues…it’s very bright with all the yellows and oranges to contrast with the darker teal blue and the purples.” This resonated with me, so I tried to capture this feeling in the music.
