Saturday, March 17, 2018; 8PM
Free pre-show chat 7:15PM
The Annex (823 Seymour, 2nd Floor)

UPDATE! We regret to inform that Kazue Sawai will be unable to perform as originally scheduled. We are pleased that Kazue Sawai has highly recommended, and introduced to us Miyama McQueen-Tokita, who will be joining Sumire Yoshihara for this performance.

Sumire Yoshihara (percussion) is among the most respected and iconic performers of Japanese contemporary music, and Miyama McQueen-Tokita (koto) is a versatile, award-winning koto player. Bridging ancient and new sounds, this amazing duo will present a selection of Japanese contemporary music for percussion, and 17- and 13string koto that will showcase a range of wonderfully poetic approaches in a program that includes solo and duo works by Maki Ishii, Michio Kitazume, Teizo Matsumura, and Yuji Takahashi, as well as a new duo by Yoichi Sugiyama.

Presented in association with Powell Street Festival
